On SegMint, assets are secured in Vaults, and in return, Keys (the fractions) to the Vaults are distributed.
Trade Keys
Keys are ERC 1155 tokens that represent partial ownership of Vaults on SegMint. Keys can be bought, sold, and traded.
Buyout the Vault
Want more than just a fraction? You’re in luck—there’s an option to buy out all the Keys to a Vault. Vault Owners also have the option to buy back all their Keys if they want to recover their asset.
Unlock the Vault
Once you acquire all Keys to a Vault, you can unlock the Vault and redeem the underlying asset.
How to fractionalize
Fractionalize your NFTs with SegMint's Lock and Key Model
SegMint makes fractionalization simple and easy.
SegMint's Lock and Key model securely locks your NFTs in a self-custodial Vault and distributes Keys (fractions) to you in return. You're free to trade these Keys, but you must own all Keys if you want to unlock your Vault and recover your assets.

Select NFT
Select the NFT you want to vault and fractionalize. We currently support NFTs on Ethereum, Polygon, and Base.

Set the details
Enter how many fractions you would like to split your NFT up into (up to 100). At SegMint, we call these fractions Key, and they are used to unlock Vaults.

Fractionalize
Confirm the fractionalization. Once done, your NFT will be locked in a Vault and you’ll be distributed Keys that can be traded on SegMint.
